"Because of corneal infection, I only had light sensation in my right eye and my left eye was also poor," she said. "Around the beginning of 2013, my vision in the left eye began to decline sharply and I could hardly leave my house without another's help."

After examination at the hospital, the doctor told her only a corneal transplant would help recover her vision.

Ding was selected from more than 100 patients waiting for a transplant, due to the seriousness of her condition and relatively low requirements for people over 50 years of age. After a successful corneal transplant surgery on her left eye at Harbin Ophthalmic Hospital of the First Affiliated University of Harbin Medical University, the vision of her left eye reached 0.8. (The best vision rating is 1.5.)
