The summit was designed to discuss the MQ, or the mobility quotient, as a measure of the readiness of a person or organization with experts from the fields of business and science.

The carmaker said MQ includes not only spatial mobility in its calculation, but also factors such as time, society and sustainability.

This is the first time that the event was held in China since it was initiated by Audi three years ago in Germany.

"The future is being made in China, which is why we have brought the MQ! to Beijing," Audi China President Gaby-Luise Wuest said.

"Audi and China share the same spirit of curiosity. This passion for constant learning generates the energy that drives innovation and transformation."

Besides Lee, other keynote speakers also gave significant impulses for an intense discussion during the summit related to different aspects of a sustainable society. Rethinking people's relationship with mobility was at the forefront of discussion.

Peggy Liu, founder and chairwoman of the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy, said sustainable mobility in Chinese cities would eventually lead to carbon-free emissions.

"Sustainable mobility is not just about low carbon emissions, it's about zero carbon emissions. Over 30 cities in China will be completely electrified in public transit by 2020."
