A joint exhibition of Chinese and Indian paintings and calligraphy was held at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi as a warm-up event for the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-India diplomatic ties.

The event was jointly organised by the Women's Group of the Chinese Embassy in India, and the Center for India-China Studies at the O.P Jindal Global University in India's northern state of Haryana.

Titled Share the Beauty, Achieve the Harmony, the exhibition was attended by a host of foreign dignitaries and artists from both China and India.

Bao Jiqing, wife of Chinese ambassador to India Sun Weidong, said that efforts were jointly made by as many as 10 artists from both the countries to elaborately produce 70 works of art primarily with the characteristics of the traditional style.

"The exhibition provides artists from both sides an opportunity to deepen cultural understanding and enhancing mutual trust and friendship," she added.

The exhibition is aimed at creating more possibilities of further promoting the understanding of the development of Chinese and Indian culture, cheering for the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two neighbors, increasing the openness of exchange of arts and strengthening the friendship.
