BRUSSELS-A Tibetan delegation of the Chinese National People's Congress visited Belgium from Thursday to Sunday.

The delegation, led by Norbu Dondrup, member of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress and vice-chairman of the regional government, met with Andre Flahaut, the vice-president of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium. The delegation also held discussions with Belgian lawmakers including the Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Els Van Hoof, and exchanged ideas with local officials and scholars.

Norbu Dondrup introduced the Chinese government's Tibet policy and the major changes in Tibet in the past 60 years since the start of democratic reforms.

At present, Tibet's various sectors are continuing to thrive, and people of all ethnic groups live and work in peace and contentment, he said.

Emphasizing that Tibet-related issues involve China's core interests and the national feelings of nearly 1.4 billion Chinese people, he said it is hoped that the Belgian side will prudently and properly handle Tibet-related issues.
