2020: A year full of wonders

8. Seawater rice, developed by agricultural scientist Yuan Longping and his team, is expected to be approved for extensive cultivation in 2020. Also known as saline-alkali tolerant rice, the new rice strain is designed to grow in tidal flats or areas with heavy salt content.
