CAIRO -- EgyptAir, the flagship carrier of Egypt, announced on Thursday that it will resume flights to and from China starting from Feb 27.

In a statement, EgyptAir said the national airline has decided to resume a flight every Thursday from Cairo to Beijing and then to Guangzhou. The return flight will start from Guangzhou and stop in Beijing before flying to Cairo.

"The decision was taken in response to requests for travelling to and from China," said the statement.

EgyptAir suspended all flights to China on Feb 4 over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The company will follow up the situation on a regular basis to decide whether to increase the number of flights, according to the statement.
