Pipeline explosion hits Nigeria's economic hub, casualties feared

LAGOS -- An oil pipeline explosion on Sunday hit a satellite town of Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub, and casualties are feared, a rescue official told Xinhua.

A police source, who also confirmed the incident, said several houses were shaken by the explosion, which also made some collapse.

Affected residents of Amuwo Odofin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Alimosho, and environs told Xinhua that the loud sound was a result of the pipeline explosion at satellite town that caused some buildings to collapse at Abule Ado area of the state.
