Redmi unveils new 4K TV

Redmi, an independent brand of Chinese tech company Xiaomi Corp, unveiled its latest TV variant with a gigantic 98-inch display exceeding the size of a single bed.

The move marks its latest push to offer smart home appliances, and to bring cutting-edge products to the mass at an affordable price.

The Redmi Smart TV Max 98, unveiled in Beijing on Tuesday, delivers good visual performance at 4K resolution, the company said in a statement. Enabled with XiaoAi AI assistant, users can easily search movies and even control internet of things devices through the new TV via voice command.

Priced at 19,999 yuan ($2,836), the new TV will be available for purchase in the Chinese mainland starting April 6.

On Tuesday, Redmi also unveiled its latest smartphone K30 Pro series, which are dubbed by the company as the most accessible models powered by US tech giant Qualcomm Inc's Snapdragon 865 chips.
