SHENZHEN -- The southern Chinese municipality of Shenzhen will build another 30,000 5G base stations this year to fully cover the city with the 5G network, local authorities said.

Shenzhen built 15,500 5G base stations in 2019 and achieved full 5G signal coverage in its key areas, according to the Shenzhen Industrial and Information Technology Bureau.

Shenzhen is one of the first pilot cities of the 5G network in China. So far, 5G technology has been applied in various fields in the country, including intelligent medical treatment and smart transportation.
