Spain sees slight rise in deaths, fewer new cases

MADRID - The number of deaths in a 24-hour period from COVID-19 rose slightly in Spain, while the number of new cases fell, according to Sunday updates released by the Spanish Ministry for Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Services.

The total number of deaths on Sunday grew by 619 to 16,972, higher than the 510 deaths reported the previous day.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases was up by 4,167 to 166,019, registering a 2.6-percent rise, which is lower than the 4,830 new cases and the 3.07-percent increase reported a day earlier.

In addition, the number of recoveries in Spain increased by 3,282 to 62,391 in the last 24 hours.
