Wangtai Group, a private international trade company headquartered in Beijing, has teamed up with People's Daily Digital Communication Co Ltd and Beijing Chunmiao Charity Foundation to provide 2.76 million yuan ($390,000) to the medical worker team from Beijing who assisted Hubei in fight against COVID-19.

Starting Jan 27, a total of 138 medical professionals from 12 hospitals affiliated with the Beijing municipal government were sent to Hubei province to help treat COVID-19 patients there. They returned to Beijing late last month after successfully accomplishing their mission without a single infection among the team members.

While the disease has been effectively contained in China and people's lives are going back to normal, the sacrifice and efforts medical workers made during the fight should be recognized, which is why the company decided to provide the award the medical team, the company said.

The money the company donated will be given to medical workers through the foundation, a charity organization with qualifications for public fundraising.
