The gourmet show Darling, Come to Dinner, hosted by Chinese actor Jia Nailiang and Hong Kong actor-host Wong Cho-lam, puts a spotlight on warm moments during shared meals.

A special program of the show, Wuhan Connection, has aired on Dragon TV starting March 21, probing into the streets and alleys of Wuhan, Hubei province — the hardest-hit city in China during the coronavirus outbreak — to find touching and inspiring real-life stories.

The two celebrity hosts made video calls to frontline medical workers, deliverymen, infected patients and volunteers in Wuhan, also coordinating meals with each other to simulate the experience of having dinner together.

One of the medical workers said in mobile cabin hospitals, they would write down the names of Wuhan's local snacks on their protective suits, stage square dancing and play games to get closer to patients and ease their troubles. One patient said she wants to cook bowls of hot dry noodles, a famous local food, to pay back the love and care from those medical professionals.

After the special program focusing on Wuhan, the show plans to hunt for stories of people from various walks of life during this special period. In the newly-released episode on Saturday, the show came to Hangzhou's Binjiang district, renowned for its prosperous e-commerce industry. Jia and Wong had dinners and heart-to-heart talks with e-commerce practitioners during the outbreak, including a family of four livestreaming hosts and a couple who makes money by posting video blogs.
