Recovering COVID-19 survivor sends message to protesters

Leah Blomberg, a woman living in US state of Wisconsin is struggling to recover from coronavirus and wants protesters to stop "crying and complaining" about shelter-in-place orders after she spent nine days in a medically induced coma, as well as another nine days in the ICU having horrible hallucinations from the medications prescribed for her illness.

Her muscles are still weak and it takes her 45 minutes to take a quick shower, compared to 15 minutes before becoming infected with the virus. She had to learn how to walk again, due muscle atrophy after the nine days in a coma.

She is concerned for the protesters who are struggling financially, but she emphasized health officials have said the country isn't ready to reopen because the virus is not yet under control.

"A lot of those people will not understand until it happens to them or someone they love. And it's really sad," Blomberg said."We have to wait for the medical community to say 'it's OK'. They're the ones who know what's going on."

As of Tuesday, more than 825,000 people have been infected in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University. More than 45,000 have died in the past two months.
