An index, meant to guide Chinese enterprises in responding to the national strategy and promoting values and responsibility, has been released by the China Brand Development Research Center of People's Daily on Tuesday.

The index is based on contributions to the country, society, economy, environment, industry and corporate governance to evaluate enterprises' scores and make a ranking of top 60 Chinese companies with strong social responsibility.

Tencent took first place with a score of 147.57, followed by Sinopec and Evergrande, which scored 145.37 and 144.81.

The enterprise social responsibility index is a part of China Brand Development Index, also published by the research center.

The development index shows a V-shaped recovery life in the first quarter of this year, reflecting a short-term cooling market and brand tenacity. The enterprise social responsibility also shows a positive trend, People's Daily said.
