Breast cancer campaign launched for better life

A charity show contest for breast cancer patients was launched online on Friday in Beijing to inspire confidence in fighting the disease and generate public concern about the patient group.

Jointly launched by the Rehabilitation Branch of China Anti-Cancer Association, Beijing Love Book Cancer Foundation (LBCF) and Roche Pharmaceuticals China, the campaign "Run for her family" will last for six months in the form of online shows including dancing, calligraphy and painting.

The annual campaign has run since 2016 covering more than 100 cities nationwide and connecting more than 100 experts in this area with more than 3 million patients and in rehabilitation and volunteers

Shi Anli, president of LBCF and director of the committee of the Rehabilitation Brach of China Anti-Cancer Association, urged persistent care and help from the public for cancer patients as the treatment and rehabilitation is a long process for each of the patient, and, as a breast cancer herself, pledged commitment in the cancer rehabilitation in the form of the campaign.

Breast cancer is the most prominent disease among malignant tumors for females in China with 304,000 new cases reported annually and the number is ever increasing. According to Xu Binghe, a leading breast cancer specialist at the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the survival rate of five years for breast cancer patients has surpassed 80 percent in China with ever improving treatment method and better drugs. The disease is turning out to be categorized as chronic illness and needs full course management.

Zhou Hong, president of Roche Pharma China, pledged early introduction of new drugs to China and persistent commitment in breast cancer prevention and treatment in China.
