Johnson & Johnson delivered its first Ultra High Definition 4K endoscopic imaging system in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province on Tuesday, which is not only the first 4K endoscopic imaging system in China but also marks the first time that the company has manufactured a product representing this technology in the Chinese market.

The successful delivery of the system, known as the DePuy Synthes Mitek PUREVUE visualization system, embodies Johnson & Johnson's long-term commitment to empowering innovation "Made in China, for China" and supports China's effort to upgrade high-end intelligent manufacturing, according to Song Weiqun, chairman of Johnson & Johnson China.

"Under the New Normal after the pandemic, people will lay more emphasis on exercise and health, and their demand for high-quality healthcare solutions also will increase," Song said.

Through real-time imaging, the system can help Chinese orthopedists treat sports injuries or degenerative joint disease faster and better.

Song assured that COVID-19 will not shake the company's confidence in the China market on a long-term basis; on the contrary, it will make the company become even more adamant in implementing development and innovation strategies.

"China is one of the most important markets for Johnson & Johnson globally — it is certainly the No 1 growth engine for global business growth, and is gradually becoming an innovation engine for the world," said Aldo Denti, company group chairman of DePuy Synthes Johnson & Johnson.

"We have a deep commitment here and we aspire to serve more Chinese doctors and patients to help address their evolving needs through our innovative healthcare solutions designed for China, and more importantly, made in China," Denti said.

From importing, producing and manufacturing advanced products, to cultivating an open innovation ecosystem, Johnson & Johnson is committed to promoting innovations in China. Two of Johnson & Johnson's nine R&D centers for drugs around the world are in China.

The system combines the global expertise and local manufacturing experience of Johnson & Johnson to bring a clearer vision for physicians through real-time imaging, and it will drive the development of minimally invasive orthopedic procedures in sports medicine to better serve patients' needs.
