New law not an intrusion says legal expert

Maria Tam Wai-chu, deputy director of the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee, on Thursday rejected Western criticism of the newly-enacted national security law for Hong Kong.
She stressed that the legislation is a State-level law and is not "an intrusion" into Hong Kong's high degree of autonomy.
She also urged foreign countries to learn more about the issue.
