The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Asia 2020 has been canceled due to the pandemic, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced on its official website on Monday.

The CTA had postponed CES Asia 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Shanghai on June 10-12, as early as mid-March.

Given the pandemic, the economy, and its visible role as an American trade association, CTA decided to focus on other CES-related programs, serving the interests of the industry, and how innovation can make all people healthier, safer and better.

Launched in 2015 in Shanghai, CES Asia is the premier event showcasing innovation and the evolution of technology in the Asian market, which has enjoyed growth and success in the past years.

CES Asia serves as a launchpad for new Asian innovations and transformative technologies across the globe, and it is owned and produced by the International CES (Shanghai) Exhibition Co Ltd and co-produced by Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co Ltd (Shanghai Intex).

In 2019, CES Asia hosted 522 exhibiting companies across 59,084 gross square meters of exhibit space and attracted a total attendance of 42,560, including 1,517 members of the media.

A CES in-person event is planned to be held with both physical and digital shows in Las Vegas in 2021, according to CTA's announcement.
