The current difficulties in the China-US relations are created by the United States, which is attempting to thoroughly break up China's development process, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.

To this end, Washington has tried every method and stoops lower and lower, Wang said in a meeting with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas via video link. He made the remarks when discussing the current situation of the China-US relationship.

Wang told Mass some anti-China forces in the US have maliciously stirred up ideological confrontations, and openly threatened other countries to take sides between China and the US.

They choose to confront China for the US' interests only, Wang said, adding any country with conscience and independent awareness will not play along.

China still hopes to maintain a relationship with the US where there is no conflict, no confrontation and both sides respect each other to achieve win-win cooperation, Wang said, and in the meantime it will firmly uphold its national sovereignty and dignity and resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights for development, as well as the basic norms of international relations.

Beijing will not dance to the music of Washington, he said, and it will not allow the US to mess things up.
