WeChat Pay now accessible in Turkey

Chinese mobile wallet WeChat Pay became available in Turkey on Tuesday, bringing the total number of countries and regions accessible to the payment service to 64.

Thanks to a new collaboration agreement with ICBC Bank, Chinese tourists can enjoy the convenience of paying in renminbi via the service at Istanbul International Airport's UNIFREE duty-free stores, thanks to a new collaboration with ICBC bank, according to a press release from WeChat Pay.

It added that more tourist sites, restaurants and hospitality facilities will provide access to WeChat Pay.

The service now supports 24 currencies outside of the Chinese mainland. It handles over 1 billion daily commercial transactions and serves more than 50 million merchants in China, according to company data.
