China's PPI down 2% in August

BEIJING -- China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, fell 2 percent year-on-year in August, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday.

The reading narrowed from the 2.4-percent drop in July.
