New freight train route to Europe opens in East China

HANGZHOU -- A new China-Europe freight train route linking the city of Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province to Baku, Azerbaijan, was launched Thursday.

The train is carrying 100 TEUs of goods including electric tools, hardware tools and household items. It is expected to arrive in Baku in 15 to 18 days, about two-thirds of the travel time previously needed by the land-and-sea transportation, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co Ltd.

Jinhua station operates 12 China-Europe freight train routes. A total of 210 China-Europe freight trains had departed from the station since the beginning of this year, carrying 17,286 TEUs.
