CPPCC National Committee talks rural revitalization

On Sept 18, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held a special consultation meeting on achieving rural revitalization through cultural construction.

Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and chairman of the CPPCC, attended and delivered a speech.

He said in order to promote the new rural culture in the new era, it is necessary to adhere to the party's leadership, strengthen cultural self-confidence and handle the balance between traditional and modern culture.

More than 100 CPPCC national and local members and special experts attended the meeting in the main venue at CPPCC in Beijing, along with sub-venues in Anhui, Hunan and Guizhou.

Twenty-one members, experts and representatives of people's congresses spoke at the meeting, and nearly 70 members expressed their opinions.

The committee members suggested strengthening the Party's leadership and pass on cultural resources to people in rural areas, enhance their ideological and moral education, spread the concept of civilization, promote the change of customs and guide them not only to get their pockets fully filled, but also their heads.

They added it was also important to protect traditional villages, ethnic villages, agricultural and cultural relics, establish intangible heritage workshops to further preserve traditional culture, make a good use of talents in rural areas to create more cultural products favored by farmers, enhance the applicability and pertinence of public cultural services, actively guide social forces to participate and promote the development of rural culture industry.
