Shougang X-Games Park debuts on National Day holiday

BEIJING -- As the first extreme sports park in Beijing, the Shougang X-Games Park has been a popular site since its opening on the first day of the National Day holiday.

"It's first time for me to experience outdoor sports climbing and it is much more enjoyable than indoor," 11-year-old Liu Yueming wowed upon landing on the ground.

As part of the urban rejuvenation plan, the Shougang X-Games park was renovated from the industrial remains in the capital, very close to the headquarters for Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee.

Covering an area of 17,900 square meters, the X-Games Park consists of skateboard fields, sports climbing fields and a leisure area.

Its skateboard and sports climbing fields are able to host international elite events and also with courses with lower difficulty for the public. Enthusiasts can also practice bicycle motocross, a new Olympic event to debut at Paris 2024, in the skateboard fields.

Those who do not do extreme sports can enjoy themselves in the leisure area, where they can have a try in multiple events including floor curling.
