HARBIN -- Northeast China's Heilongjiang province saw its exports grow 6.6 percent year-on-year to 26.9 billion yuan (about $4 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, the provincial bureau of commerce said.

The province's total foreign trade, however, declined 15 percent year-on-year to 118.23 billion yuan during the period with imports falling 19.8 percent to 91.33 billion yuan, according to the bureau.

The province's growth rate in exports ranked eighth in China in the first three quarters, 4.8 percentage points higher than the national growth rate during the period. Electromechanical and high-tech products were the main driving factors for the export growth, up 8.8 percent and 103.7 percent year-on-year, respectively, together contributing to 8.2 percentage points to the total export growth.

Heilongjiang's foreign trade with Russia dropped 21.7 percent year-on-year to 74.21 billion yuan, accounting for 62.8 percent of its total trade volume.
