Xinhua | Updated: 2020-12-15 10:34

BEIJING -- China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday launched a program aiming to cultivate high-quality guides to supplement the country's red tourism industry.

A list of the first 100 guides qualified for the program was announced at an occasion showcasing the results from the program's pilot period, which began in late 2018.

After attending the three-year program, the guides will excel in five aspects, namely political awareness, an abundance of knowledge, service quality, and their abilities to be role models and affect society positively, said Wang Xiaofeng, an official with the ministry.

Wang urged the attendees to work hard to become excellent narrators of revolutionary stories, inherit the revolutionary spirit, and manifest it in their lives.
