BOGOTA - Colombian President Ivan Duque on Tuesday presented Daniel Palacios as his new minister of the interior, replacing Alicia Arango, who has been named ambassador to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland.

"I have appointed the Minister of the Interior and former Minister of Labor Alicia Arango as Ambassador to the UN," Duque posted on Twitter.

"Her management and experience in labor and human rights guarantee the success of her new mission," the Colombian president added.

Palacios, who is a member of Colombia's National Army reserve as a lieutenant, has served as presidential advisor on political affairs and national security, director of the National Protection Unit, and deputy minister of political relations at the Ministry of the Interior.
