Fire kills 1 at mask manufacturing factory in Indian capital

NEW DELHI -- One person was killed and three others rescued on Saturday after a fire engulfed a mask manufacturing factory in the Indian capital, police said.

The fire broke out early Saturday in the factory at Mayapuri locality of Delhi.

"Early today a fire broke out inside a mask manufacturing unit here and one person was killed while three others were rescued," a police official said.

Soon after receiving the distress call at around 3:50 am local time, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, the fire service officials said.

Reports said the fire occurred on the third floor of the building, where machines and raw material of the manufacturing unit were placed.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Police have registered a case and ordered an investigation into the blaze.
