BEIJING -- The Chinese and Indian frontline troops at the south and north bank of the Pangong Tso Lake began a synchronized and organized disengagement on Wednesday, said Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense.

The move is based on the consensus reached in the ninth round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting, Wu said.

The meeting was held in late January.
