Islamic State group's operative killed in E. Afghanistan

JALALABAD -- Afghan forces have killed a member of the hardliner Islamic State (IS) group in the eastern Nangarhar province, said a statement of provincial government released here Monday.
"Amir Khan alias Amir Masoud Kaftari who served as deputy intelligence chief of the Islamic State outfit in the eastern region has been killed in Khogiani district," the statement added.
The security forces have also discovered the flag of the hardliner group and a number of arms and ammunitions from the hideout of Masoud Kaftari during the raid, the statement asserted.
IS outfit which is active in parts of Nangarhar and the neighboring Kunar and Nuristan provinces has yet to make comment.
