Nearly a year has passed, but memories are as vivid as yesterday for Yu Jing as she recalls how the people of Wuhan people fought the coronavirus during the most difficult days — especially when she read the diary collection of her own words and those of her students.
Yu, a Chinese teacher at Gangcheng No 17 Primary School in the Qingshan district of Wuhan, Hubei province, has made a habit of keeping a diary and made a written record of her self-quarantine at home after the city was hit hard by the pandemic at the end of January 2020.
She also asked all the 51 students in her class to keep diaries and received great support from them and their parents. Every day Yu would read her students' words after receiving them via electronic messaging.
