BEIJING -- China's top anti-graft body has persistently advanced the crackdown on corruption, with 24 centrally-administrated officials investigated in 2020, according to a report released Monday.
Last year, disciplinary inspection commissions and supervision agencies across the country investigated about 618,000 corruption cases, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China said in its latest work report.
The investigations led to the punishment of 604,000 people, of whom 9,420 were in the financial sector, said the CCDI.
Disciplinary inspection commissions and supervision agencies nationwide saw 16,000 people turn themselves in last year, according to the report.
A total of 1,421 fugitives, including 28 Red Notice fugitives, were brought back to China during the country's 2020 anti-corruption manhunt operation.
About 2.95 billion yuan (around $454 million) in illicit gains was retrieved during the operation, it said.
