Xinhua | Updated: 2021-06-01 22:13

SHENYANG - Rescuers have found one victim's body after a fishing boat accident in China's Yellow Sea, which left seven people missing last week, authorities said Tuesday.

The boat overturned in waters off Northeast China's Liaoning province on May 25. Authorities with Liaoning's Donggang city said they found the body at 3:48 pm Monday and confirmed it was one of the missing crew members.

Authorities have dispatched a helicopter and dozens of rescue vessels, in addition to passing commercial ships, to help with the rescue work over an area exceeding 115 square nautical miles.

Rescuers managed to lift the boat out of the water and pump water out on Monday but failed to find any of the missing personnel inside, though they are still cleaning the storage cabin. They found the victim's body in nearby waters.

The search efforts continue.
