Good college vs good major: What matters more?

I think it can be divided into two stages to evaluate the importance of major and school.

At the college level, school is more important than major. A famous university has a bigger learning platform and can provide more resources to students. For instance, students have more job opportunities than those in ordinary universities.

If you want to pursue a graduate degree, I think major is more important than college. You need to have a strong goal for your major in postgraduate study, which is inseparable from the industry you will be engaged in in the future. Some students, in order to be admitted to a better school, may apply for the less popular major, but the employment prospects will not be very optimistic.

I think it is a scientific decision for students to choose a good college first at their college level. And a good major first at their graduate level will be helpful for their future career development.
