The Beijing education authority announced on Sunday afternoon all the kindergartens, primary and middle schools should stop campus activities on Monday due to expected strong rainfall and wind.
Colleges should not organize field study or other outdoor group activities, according to the announcement.
The authority also reminds students not to visit mountain areas or rivers to avoid potential danger.
Beijing Water Authority has issued a level III emergency response for floods at 2pm Sunday, the first of its kind this year.
At 2:10 pm Sunday, the Beijing railway authority said on its official Weibo account around 30 trains on the Beijing to Guangzhou line would be late because of strong winds.
Strong winds in Shijiazhuang and Xingtai cities in Hebei province have interfered with the contact system, which is the key source of locomotive power. It is also called the overhead contact system since it is usually above the trains.
If objects such as kites or metals fall on the contact system, it can cause trouble, such as power cutoffs or fires on the line.
The rail authority is presently working on the problem.
