German auto parts supplier ZF is presenting its latest electrification and autonomous driving solutions at the ongoing Munich auto show, which is also known as the IAA Mobility.
"Sustainable mobility is becoming tangible for people. With its products and solutions, ZF is helping to establish this in society, making it increasingly visible in everyday life," said ZF CEO Wolf-Henning Scheider.
ZF held the global premiere of its Modular eDrive Kit at the event, which can cut the development time of new electric drives for up to 50 percent.
The company said the kit also gives car manufacturers a great deal of leeway because it offers the widest possible spread.
It covers models from compact to premium ones, and configurations from 75 to 400 kW of power and from 350 to 540 Nm of torque are possible, said ZF.
ZF's high-performance computer, the ProAI, made its European premiere at the event, as the company's solution to autonomous driving.
As the most flexible and powerful supercomputer for the automotive industry, it is available in scalable performance levels from 20 to 1,000 tera operations per second.
Compared to the previous version, ZF has increased performance by up to 66 percent and reduced energy consumption by up to 70 percent.
Taking up less floor space than an iPad, the ProAI is suitable for every vehicle type and for autonomous driving from Level 2 to Level 5, said the company.
"We are not showing ideas for the future at the IAA, but production-ready solutions that our customers can order and that will soon be shaping people's mobility on the road," said Scheider.
"In our estimation, autonomous driving after Level 4 or 5 will become established in the commercial vehicle segment initially, and urban passenger transport. We are already active in the market for autonomous shuttle systems, among others," he said.
