Public security bureau in Jinan, Shandong province, was reported to have detained a suspect and bailed two others on Thursday. The three individuals were suspected of committing illegal detention on a woman.

On Tuesday, a video went viral on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like social platform, showing a woman surnamed An beaten and abused in a room by a woman surnamed Liu in Xiyue plastic institution. The perpetrator in the video threatened her safety and forced her to sign a reconciliation agreement.

The institution involved posted an announcement on Weibo the same day as the video circulated online. It acknowledged the video and explained that An was a profiteer using surgery disputes to collect compensation.

An denied the claims in her own post on Thursday night.

According to the Weibo posts of both parties, An was a client who underwent an eye surgery in the institution earlier. She said she went to the local market supervision administration to complain about the surgery, but was assaulted by the staff when she asked to be indemnified in March when the video was shot. Liu is the juridical person of the institution.

Police officers in the Jinan High-tech zone reported on Friday that they had detained Liu and other two people named Qu and Sun involved were bailed according to the law.

The institution had no registration on record with China's National Health Commission.
