"Kunqu Opera, as a form of artistic expression that has been active on the stage for a long time, needs to transform. The transformation, however, does not mean the change of the form. Young people like novelty so we need to have more thinking now," Zhou added.

Since its establishment, Qinfeng Opera Fair has been continuously joined by people of all ages who are interested in Kunqu Opera, and of course, foreign faces.

"I was surprised. Kunqu Opera is completely different from any opera forms I have ever seen in the world but I'm always willing to discover and try something new," said Andres Egana, a Spanish trainee of Qinfeng Opera Fair who has been working in Qiandeng town for two decades.
