US weekly jobless claims hit 19-month low amid labor shortage

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell to 290,000 in the week ended Oct 16, down 6,000 from the previous week and the lowest in 19 months, US Labor Department data showed on Thursday.
