Xuan Zhan, a police sniffer dog, recently helped find several explosive devices while patrolling the China-Vietnam border in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province.
While working with police officers of the Yangwan Border Police Station on the morning on Sept 26, the dog suddenly barked and lay down on the ground.
Duan Bo, the animal's handler, was immediately clear about the meaning: The dog had found explosives — in this case a land mine.
After successfully removing the mine, the police officers thoroughly investigated the area.
Then, on Sept 27, the dog found another mine and a rocket shell, followed by yet another mine on Sept 30.
All the explosive devices were deactivated and disposed of, the police said.
In fact, Xuan Zhan had just completed training and entered service in early September.
Within five days, the dog cleared four explosive devices, playing an important role in maintaining the security and stability of the border area, the police said.
