The arrest of Sun Lijun, former vice-minister of public security, was approved by the Supreme People's Procuratorate. He was charged on suspicion of taking bribes.

The country's top procuratorate issued a statement on Friday that said the National Supervisory Commission had concluded the investigation of Sun's case and transferred the case to a procuratorial organ for examination and prosecution. The case is in process.

Sun, 52, was placed under investigation for suspected severe violations of discipline and law by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the NSC in April 2020. He was expelled from the Party and removed from the post in September 2021.

Sun, a native from Qingdao, Shandong province, began to work in September 1988 and became a Party member in December 1997, according to the website of the country's top anti-graft body.
