Joint forces conduct 111 Mekong River patrols

Law enforcement authorities from China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand have conducted 111 joint Mekong River patrols since the effort was launched in December 2011.

The Mekong River, known as the Lancang River in China, is a vital waterway for cross-border shipping. Joint patrols targeted cross-border crimes, including illegal immigration, drug smuggling, criminal telecommunications and illegal internet activities in the Mekong River basin.
