A bilingual book on China's technological innovation written by Argentine expert on China issues Gustavo Alejandro Girado was published on Dec 7.

The book, China's Technological Independence and Innovation, interprets the country's pathway of technological innovation and standard setting from an academic point of view, and expounds what it means to economic development for Chinese government to do away with technological dependence and promote indigenous innovation.

The author has provided solid arguments and clear views, says Li Hongwen, executive director of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Corp, the Chinese organizer of the book launch.

Guo Cunhai, from Institute of Latin American Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says the book is important as it will help Latin American people learn about the real China without resorting to Western discourse systems.

Girado, the author, added that for the Latin American and Caribbean countries, knowing what China plans to do and how it will realize the goals meet their needs for seeking and expanding common interests in bilateral and multilateral cooperations.

Girado, who has studied China for over two decades, was among the winners of 14th Special Book Award of China in 2020, the highest accolade for foreigners in publishing circles.

The company cooperated with the Prunus Press of the United States to publish the book. A Spanish version of the book will also be released in the near future.
