Rescuers are searching for two crew members who went missing after their cargo ship sank on Sunday off the coast of Yantai city, Shandong province, which has killed nine people, according to CCTV News.

According to the Beihai Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, a total of 14 crew members were on board when the accident occurred, CCTV reported.

So far, three people have been rescued and in stable condition, and two are still missing.

After receiving a report of the accident at 4:43 am on Sunday, the rescue bureau immediately dispatched a helicopter and a rescue vessel to search for the missing crew members.

Zhou Naixiang, governor of Shandong province, arrived in Yantai on Sunday to supervise the rescue work. He urged rescuers to race against time and go all out to search and rescue the crew.

He required mobilizing maritime rescue forces, including adopting advanced technical means to expand the search and rescue scope.

As long as there is a glimmer of hope, we should do all in our full power to search and rescue, he said.
