Shanghai reported four locally transmitted asymptomatic COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the municipal government announced on Wednesday.
Authorities said that one of the cases was found to have come into close contact with three imported cases who tested positive for the virus on Saturday during their seven-day self health monitoring period. This 40-year-old asymptomatic case was then placed under hotel quarantine before testing positive on Tuesday.
The other three asymptomatic cases, aged 36, 58, and 33, were tracked down following the request of another city to locate relevant individuals of asymptomatic cases reported on Monday.
Health authorities said that the 1,910 individuals related to the newly reported asymptomatic cases had tested negative for the virus as of 8 am Wednesday.
The municipal government added that all local confirmed cases have been discharged from the hospital as of Tuesday.
Shanghai reported 17 imported cases on Tuesday.
