Foreigners learning Chinese will help people from China and abroad enhance communication and deepen mutual understanding, renowned Chinese writer Wang Meng said at a recent event.

Wang made the remarks via video link during a Chinese pronunciation practicing course at a winter camp themed "Chinese bridge" hosted by China's education ministry and Communication University of China from February 4 to February 27.

Wang read the preface poem of his novel Long Live Youth to Malaysian students at the winter camp and the students read the following part of the poem.

"Chinese bridge" winter camps aim to enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia, building a bridge for information sharing and communication, said Dai Xiaohua from China-ASEAN Business Association (CABA). Dai hopes students can enjoy Chinese literature and language learning. She also thanked Wang Meng’s contributions to cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia.
