Beijing is facing increasing epidemic control pressure as the city reported cluster cases of COVID-19, the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control said on Wednesday.

The Beijing CDC reminded residents to avoid buying goods from abroad, as overseas parcels have tested positive in several cities.

Do online overseas purchases as few as possible unless it is vitally needed when the COVID-19 epidemic is at peak overseas, Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing CDC, said at a news conference on Wednesday.

She suggested residents dealing with overseas parcels to follow proper measures such as wearing facial masks and disposable gloves when receiving the parcels, disposing the external packs into garbage bins instead of bringing home, and disinfecting the purchased goods.

Schools, medical organizations, transport stations and ports have been classified as the key areas to contain the virus spread in the city.
