China chooses peace over war, dialogue over unilateral sanction, Wang said, adding that instead of adding fuel to the fire, China sides with de-escalation.
When handling with complicated security issues, one should not opt for the simplistic approach of "friend or foe" and "black or white", Wang said, adding that every country has the right to independently choose its foreign policies.
Facts have proven that the Cold War mentality featuring bloc confrontation has met a dead end and picking sides to divide the world is even undesirable, said the Chinese foreign minister.
Wang opposes maximum sanctions, believing that it would only bring hurt to each other which complicates the situation and intensifies the conflicts. It is unjust and illegal to make countries and peoples who are not involved pay the price for conflicts, he added.
China stands ready to work with all parties to accommodate just and reasonable concerns of all parties and strive for a solution to the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, as well as resumption of European peace as soon as possible, Wang said.
Borrell further introduced EU's position, saying that the EU did not seek to change Russian political system and did not want to see the escalation of the situation, adding that the EU opposed new Cold War and bloc confrontation in any form.
