Former official charged with corruption

Xu Ming, the former deputy head of the State Grain Administration, has been charged with accepting bribes and the abuse of power, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said in a statement on Thursday.
The National Supervisory Commission has concluded its investigation. The public prosecution was initiated by the Xiamen Municipal People's Procuratorate in East China's Fujian province and the Xiamen Intermediate People's Court, the SPP said.
Prosecutors charged Xu with taking advantage of his positions and the opportunities they offered to seek benefit for others in exchange for significant bribes.
According to the statement, Xu's positions included positions at the Ministry of Commerce, the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and as deputy head of the then State Grain Administration.
