Chongqing's foreign trade grows 12.1% in January-April

CHONGQING - Southwest China's Chongqing municipality saw its foreign trade exceed 275 billion yuan ($40.62 billion) in the first four months of 2022, an increase of 12.1 percent year-on-year, according to the city's customs authorities.

The municipality has seen its exports climb at a two-digit growth rate for nine consecutive months. Its exports rose 20 percent year-on-year to 183.46 billion yuan in the first four months. In April alone, Chongqing recorded foreign trade of 78.36 billion yuan, up 19.8 percent.

During the period, Chongqing's foreign trade with ASEAN, the EU and the United States increased by 11 percent, 5.2 percent and 3.5 percent from the previous year, respectively.

The municipality's trade with countries along the Belt and Road was recorded at 77.64 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.9 percent. Its trade with RCEP members was 85.4 billion yuan, up 9.5 percent.
